CNN’s Brianna Keilar Rips Sarah Sanders For Dodging on WH Aide’s McCain Remark: ‘Willful Ignorance’
“What did we just witness?” CNN’s chief political analyst Gloria Borger said — clearly stunned by what she’d just observed during Friday’s White House briefing from Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Normally reserved anchor Brianna Keilar gave a blunt answer to Borger’s rhetorical question.
“Willful ignorance, I would say we witnessed,” Keilar said.
Anchoring CNN Newsroom Friday in place of Brooke Baldwin, Keilar blasted the White House Press Secretary for dodging questions on White House aide Kelly Sadler‘s remark about Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) — in which she said that McCain no longer matters because “he’s dying anyway.” Sanders refused to disavow the comment or even acknowledge it.
“When the White House press secretary refuses to condemn a comment, then…part of it is that she then is taking some ownership of the comment herself, right?” Keilar asked Borger.
The CNN political analyst believes Sanders was playing to “an audience of one.”
“If I had to guess,” Borger said, “the President of the United States did not want her to go out there and say anything other than what she said. Period.”
