Fox & Friends Hosts Come Out Swinging With Kellyanne: Trump ‘Has No Leverage’ for Wall
Fox & Friends came out swinging in their interview with White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, pressing her over President Trump‘s apparent caving on his promise to get his border wall funded.
Steve Doocy started things off by noting Trump was “very clear he’d be proud to shut down the government if he didn’t get funding for the wall.”
“What’s up with that stand?” Doocy asked.
As Conway dismissed the funding fight as being about the wall and accused Democrats of flip-flopping on border security, Brian Kilmeade pushed back: “Kellyanne, we know all of that, but the president has no leverage!”
“That’s not true,” Conway responded, and when Doocy noted that Paul Ryan doesn’t want the wall either, she said the outgoing House Speaker should really try to make border security part of his legacy.
The interview proceeded with questions of whether Trump is truly willing to shut down the government, and whether he has the leverage over Congress to get his way on border security. When Ainsley Earhardt suggested that Trump could be “softening his stance” on this, Conway swatted down the notion by saying he’ll get the funding somehow, and by lamenting Congress’ lack of cooperation with the president.
