Fox Hosts Blast Biden’s Border Visit As a Stunt While Promoting Their Own TV Special With Trump

After it was announced that President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump would visit the southern border on the same day, Fox News roundly dismissed Biden’s visit as a political stunt while promoting their own one-on-one interview with Trump. On Friday, Fox & Friends continued that narrative, mocking Biden for showing up to the border “once they solved the problem” in Texas.

Co-host Lawrence Jones was on location in Brownsville, Texas where Biden visited, while Trump was in Eagle Pass. According to Jones, the attitude from locals was less than enthusiastic to see the president:

Typically, we’re pretty friendly in Texas, but the President of the United States was not met with a friendly welcome from the people that live here. Every single day, they’re wondering why the Commander-in-Chief decided to come here once they solved the problem here in Texas, once the surge was over, and why did he pick a spot where there’s probably zero crossings? Because people are aren’t able to get across that high water that separates the Mexican border from the United States border.

Interesting thing, you had a lot of Trump supporters that met the former, that met the current president right there. And they said, “Mr. President, why come now?” And they say, guys, that it’s all about the politics right now. He knows that it’s the number one issue for voters. The question is, is he going to change his policy? You saw the president invite Donald Trump to join him. A lot of people there saying that it should be Joe Biden joining Donald Trump with his policies.

Co-host Brian Kilmeade then mockingly read a statement from the Biden-Harris campaign that called Trump “weak on the border” after he played a crucial role in derailing the bipartisan border bill. He and Jones openly laughed over the statement, which sent Jones into a rant:

Bri, I’m so glad that you read that statement, because I think it shows why so many people here in Texas were so insulted by the visit. I mean, you got the current Commander-in-Chief taking credit for what Texas is doing to stop the crossings right now, and then suing! And then suing! They just sued the state of Texas and blocked SB 4. So he takes credit on one hand and then sues us on the other hand. That’s the type of Commander-in-Chief we’re dealing with while also forcing Border Patrol to stand behind him as he insults them as well.

The Border Patrol Union actually supported the bipartisan border bill that Trump asked to be killed.

Immediately after deriding Biden’s border visit, the hosts segued into Sean Hannity’s interview with Trump. At the border. Which was definitely not a political stunt.
