Katy Tur Calls Out Sarah Sanders: White House ‘Refuses to Say’ Russia Election Wasn’t Free and Fair
Immediately after today’s White House briefing, MSNBC’s Katy Tur called out Sarah Huckabee Sanders for avoiding the issue of whether Russia’s elections were free and fair.
When specifically pressed on that issue today, the press secretary dodged and said, “We’re focused on our elections, we don’t get to dictate how other countries operate… We can only focus on the freeness and the fairness of our elections.”
Once the briefing wrapped, Tur highlighted that part in particular:
“Notable, a big huge flag that Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the White House will not confirm what everybody can see with their own eyes. Video came out just the other day, video looked at by the Associated Press, which actually showed people in Russia stuffing the ballot boxes, yet Sarah Huckabee Sanders and this White House refuses to say that the election in Russia was not fair.”
Tur read off one of Huckabee Sanders’ comments with some bewilderment and also rattled off other matters that were not addressed during the call: “the spy poisoning in Britain… [and] Russian election meddling in our election.”
