Bill O’Reilly Enjoys Some Daily Show Obama Jokes

While Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann were pointing to new Gallup poll numbers to show that President Obama and the Dems totally aren’t in trouble in November, Bill O’Reilly was looking at late night comedy monologues to show that they totally are (we’ll leave it up to you to decide which is more reliable). O’Reilly was proposing the idea that there has been a turn as of late, with liberal comedians finally starting to make jokes about Barack Obama. If you’ve always wanted to hear people on Fox News talk about Jon Stewart and Dave Letterman as if they’re important and should be respected, this is the segment for you.

The main problem with O’Reilly’s theory is that he uses The Daily Show as one of his two main examples and that show has been making light of the president since shortly after he got in office (we wrote a post about how harsh their criticism had been all the way back in June). Fox News political analyst Mary Katherine Ham even pointed this out, admitting that Stewart’s made her laugh with his “consistent” Obama jokes.

That just leaves Letterman. Has the Late Show (and the Tonight Show for that matter) been making less jokes about this president than the last two? Maybe. But that’s just because Obama doesn’t really lend himself to the kinds of jokes those shows make. In a quick late night monologue filled with bits about Snooki or the Octomom, it’s much easier to make “dummy” jokes about Bush and “lecher” jokes about Clinton than it is to make, say, “ineffectual policy” jokes about Obama. Do you think all the liberals over at SNL haven’t created a truly memorable Obama characterization yet because they haven’t been trying?

It shouldn’t be that hard right now to find signs that the public is turning against the Democrats, but O’Reilly’s theory, while interesting, doesn’t really hold water. Still, this segment may finally be successful in silencing the ridiculous notion that The Daily Show doesn’t criticize Democrats. A Fox News analyst even admitted it, people!

Didn’t Chuck Todd say that people at NBC shouldn’t be using the recent gallup poll because it’s not reliable?????

Bob Hope made jokes about all the presidents but they weren’t MEAN jokes.

The jokes about Bush were based on lies and they were meant to be mean.

The jokes about Obama up until now were the Bob Hope type jokes. Now they are turning on him but at least they are based on the truth.

If only 50 Billion would solve our infrastructure problem. The ASCE says it would take in the upwards of $2.2 trillion to fix it.

And you Neo Cons are full of shit. Plus Gordo, where did you get your expertise to claim to be a “terror expert” during the 1st Gulf War? Calling for the killing of all Muslims doesn’t make you an expert.

What the fuck is wrong with O’Reilly?

He closed with that clip of Larry King singing Poker Face and pointedly remarked that if he had sang that in Saudi Arabia he would have been beheaded.
How do you go from Lady Gaga to Muslims in 0 seconds flat?

Bill should leave the comedians to their jokes and stick to being the straight man.

BFD, it’s because O’Relly’s show is just a variety show. 99% of every show every night has some segment that deals or talks about sex, even though O’Reilly’s a social conservative “traditionalist”. It’s more about ratings and entertainment than anything else.

The only joke here is Bill O’reilly.

I’m going to listen to the Andrea Mackris sex tapes again. Because the spin stops here and he is just looking out for the folks (and the kids!)

Comedians barely touched Obama when he first came into office. Remember Stewart’s first Obama joke, and he had to tell his audience it was ok to laugh? All the jokes for the first year were about Bush still, or Hillary, or people around Obama, but rarely, if ever, were there jokes about Obama. Even after his gaffes, nada. I definitely think the times are changing, and they have been going after him. Less so than other presidents? In the beginning completely, now, I’m not sure.

These were the kind of jokes in the beginning:
“After President Obama spoke, the Republicans gave their rebuttal, during which they pointed out that Obama has repeatedly failed to solve any of the problems they created under President Bush.” -Jimmy Kimmel, on Obama’s State of the Union Address

“The President held a press conference tonight in prime time. All the major networks carried it, except Fox. They ran the show ‘Lie to Me’ instead. Fox is something — they killed President David Palmer off on ’24,’ they put his brother, President Wayne Palmer, into a permanent coma and now this. What does Fox have against black Presidents?” –Jimmy Kimmel

    Now they’re more like this:
“People are kind of upset with British Petroleum CEO Tony Hayward. Over the weekend, he was out on his yacht. And when President Obama found out that Tony Hayward was on his yacht, he was so angry, he missed a putt.” –David Letterman

“Well, President Obama said today he’s going to use the gulf disaster to immediately push a new energy bill through Congress. I got an idea. How about first using the gulf disaster to fix the gulf disaster?” —Jay Leno

“President Obama is now trying for peace in the Middle East using a two state solution. I believe the two states are denial and delusion.” –Jay Leno

“The Department of Labor has launched a new website to help unemployed Americans. President Obama said the website is amazing and he can’t wait to check it out in a few years.” –Craig Ferguson

“I just got back from vacation. I went on vacation the same time as President Obama. We both had to get away from it all and not do anything of significance. And now we are back and still not doing anything of significance.” –Craig Ferguson

    Good research, Sara.

Way to break Comedian-gate wide open.

” If you’ve always wanted to hear people on Fox News talk about Jon Stewart and Dave Letterman as if they’re important and should be respected, this is the segment for you. ”

O’reilly said they were ” big libs ” after Juan Williams called them ” court jesters “. I heard nothing about them being important or to be respected.

” Still, this segment may finally be successful in silencing the ridiculous notion that The Daily Show doesn’t criticize Democrats. ”

O’reilly started the segment with a picture of Bush and Clinton . He said both were attacked by the late night media. There is no ” notion ” that the Daily Show does not criticize Dems. It’s just that Conservatives are criticized much more. Kind of like when Olbermann fans try to claim that he goes after Obama just like he did Bush because of some mild criticism.

Maybe libs see things differently. When Olbermann tells Obama to ” shut the hell up ” I may start to believe it.

Comedians mock what they think is funny. Being mostly liberal they mock conservatives.
Too bad the Right doesn’t have it’s own comedians except for those coupla redneck guys who went outta style a decade ago. Geez, teaturds think Redeye is funny!

The Right definitely has a comedian gap.

“Do you think all the liberals over at SNL haven’t created a truly memorable Obama characterization yet because they haven’t been trying?”

    Yes.

Liberals like the SNL writers LOVE Obama, so they don’t look for things to make fun of. They don’t want to mock him or ridicule him; they want to support him. They know that even though it’s “only comedy”, they have real influence over public opinion.

    You are a F**ing retard!

Based on who’s truth, yours? Bush was always a joke waiting to happen! From grade school to the Whitehouse this man was a walking punchline!

Even his dad couldn’t stand him! and that’s really saying something!
