Greta Van Susteren Breaks 560,000 In The Demo As Anderson Cooper Pulls Ahead Of Ed Schultz At 10 P.M.

Cable news ratings, July 27, 2011:

•A fascinating 10 p.m. battle on Wednesday, as Fox’s Greta Van Susteren hit unusually high numbers with 563,000 viewers 25-54, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper put some distance between AC 360 (341,000 viewers) and MSNBC’s Ed Schultz (318,000). This hour will be one to watch, with Cooper set to move to 8 p.m. (with a re-air or new live show, if news warrants) at 10.

•Another tight contest Wednesday put CNN’s Piers Morgan and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow in a closer-than-normal fight for second place to Fox’s Sean Hannity. Maddow, usually MSNBC’s top ratings performer, fell to second place behind Ed Schultz, leaving an opening for Morgan, who had a strong night with 210,000 viewers 25-54. Maddow still took second place overall with 274,00–far behind Hannity, who had 584,000.

Hey, Joyella, I have a challenge for you. All the nights that MSNBC does better than AC360 put that in the title of the post, kay. The few (very few) times that AC360 manages to beat MSNBC you do this or pump up AC360 for no reason. There really is no “distance” between 341 and 318, geez it’s only 20,000 basically tied. How much does CNN pay you to write this crap? Just be truthful.

I can’t believe Anderson doesn’t always beat Schultz. That is just scary that people prefer Ed over Anderson. And those are some bad numbers for Rachel and Crazy Larry, too. Things must be getting reeeeeeeeeeally bad over there.

  • gordonbloyershow

Maddow below a million AGAIN. LOL The end is near.

  • Anonymous

Just think, pretty soon Anderson is going to be slaughtered by O’Reilly.

    LOL

CNN has lost so much credibility, they will never climb out of their credibility deficit.  When people like Matthews, Maddow and Schults bettern than King, Piers and Cooper….then the world of cable news is simply in the gutter.  Except of course for the ONE network that has figured it out: The people want both sides of the story, not just the left wing BS; it is amazing that CNN just doesn’t get that.  MSNBC is a lost cause, they are the hate mongers of cabe, but when Cooper still tries to compete with the hate rather than with the truth, you just gotta scratch your head and say:  what a dumbass.

LOL, CNN and LSDNC fighting over the cheap seats.

Why don’t they both just put on Lockup or some other Prison Show, that always gets more viewers anyway.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

    Rachel’s not going anywhere.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Would you like CNN beeter if it started hacking voice mail accounts of murder victims and fallen troops, Tassie from Tallahassee?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Why do you hate hard-working American men and women trying to carve out a better life for their family and themselves? Is it because they’re not Italian?

“Maddow, usually MSNBC’s top ratings performer, fell to second place behind Ed Schultz”

Rachel is on vacation this week.

  • Anonymous

“Maddow still took second place overall with 274,00″  …. and to think she did it without even being there.

  • ImNotBlue

Did FNC do that?  Do you have evidence of that?

I thought you said you’d “challenge” anyone who suggested such a thing.  And yet… here you are.

    Strange.

  • ImNotBlue

Why do you think sara “hates hard-working American men and women?”

    Where did that come from?

  • http://twitter.com/Staciisa_bitch Staci Chase

I think a lot of MSNBC viewers are on vacation.  Fox gets a lot of retirees who don’t go anywhere.

  • ImNotBlue

Even though they pull in greater Demo numbers, and that was the point of the headline?

Perhaps next time you make up some reason why MSNBC isn’t popular, make it less provably false.

  • Anonymous

why do you say stupid things?  You are inferring that the only way hard-working men and women can carve out a better life is to take it from someone else.  Not giving the hard-working men and women much credit are you?  Why do you hate Americans?  You think we’re not capable of doing for ourselves?   You think we need every freaking handout that comes down the pike?

Is it because you’re lazy and greedy and not willing to work for it?  I think so.

She should have invited Ed to go with her – that way she could have saved her “spot”. lol

MSNBC’s problem isn’t that its bias. Its problem is that the hosts all suck. And for real, how does Schultz beat Cooper? WTF?

  • http://www.sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

Mark – Perfect example of what we were talking about, right here. HA

Pierce Morgan could conduct some “in-House” on hacking into phones.   With his own words, he admits to knowing how it to do it.

I expect more changes in the on-air talent at MSNBC.

Their constant drum beat of hate just cannot be successful business model.

Every 6 months, my Univ has hosts a lecture from the Business School for alumni.  The next time there is a Marketing Professor giving the lecture, I am going to ask the professor what they think about a business model that concentrates on tearing down a competitor (as MSNBC does to Fox) and not originating any new material.

It should be interesting – as they say…”I’ll report…you decide!”

when real news happens, viewers don’t watch MSNBC, very consistently now   Fox News and CNN thrive during real news events, so the election coverage will give a boost to CNN in its battle for 2nd.  CNN will be enjoying a nice boost throughout the election cycle…

from denial.  having faith in the american people rather than government is difficult for some people.   We should always give a ‘hand up’ not a ‘handout’. That creates opportunity.  Handouts create dependency.

  • Anonymous

good numbers, she’s fine.  O’Donnell’s numbers are lousy and he’s embarrassing.

‘credibility deficit’ is a great phrase!

    AWWWWWWWW !!!

Rachel Maddow is on vacation this week. Vacays often influence ratings for personality-driven shows.

  • Anonymous

    Too funny for words!

So the six or eight MSNBC viewers are at the beach?

Staci, no matter how you try to spin it, check the demos above; Fox wins, as it almost always does, in the 25 – 54 demo.  And it “cleans-up” in total viewers too.

  • Anonymous

How about a merger of three of BSNBC’s three “top” (Can’t tell who’s on the “bottom”) shows?

Rachel goes to prison to do a “Lock Up” special, while Mr. Ed runs a “free” health clinic for the same prisoners?  If you want to add a fourth show, the Rev. Al could preach to the prisoners (unlike on his show, he could possibly preach in English)!

This show would appeal to so many of BSNBC’s viewers!

Further proof of the vast failure of our educational system.  Woodchucks & hay-shakers love Greta.
