Cable news ratings, February 12, 2010: Check out the highlights, and see the full ratings below:

• While all cable news networks saw a prime time ratings decline Friday night (while the Olympics Opening Ceremonies was the main TV event), CNN saw some of the worst ratings they’ve had in a very long time. It was the lowest prime time A25-54 demographic average for the network since May 23, 2001, and the lowest in total viewers since December 23, 2005. It was Larry King‘s lowest demo average since 2006 and Anderson Cooper‘s lowest in total viewers since 2005.

Bill O’Reilly was the #1 cable news program Friday night in both categories, as usual, with Glenn Beck at #2.

Check out all the ratings below, and leave your own thoughts in the comments:

CNN hides more stories than it reports. Why didn’t it cover Phil Jones’ admission this week that there has been no global warming in the last 15 years? Why didn’t it cover Obama signing a bill to lift the debt ceiling behind closed doors, in hopes that no one would notice? Why doesn’t it cover Obama’s avoidance of press conferences and constant backroom style of government? Why doesn’t it report that the woman who shot these people in Alabama was a far left fanatic obsessed with the President? What do you think they would have done if she had been a Palin supporter or tea party attendee? Why doesn’t CNN report on the Chinese dumping their holdings of US Treasury Bonds? Why did it ignore the Acorn scandal, then jump on the story about the whistle-blower, with false accusations to boot? Why did ignore Van Jones, Kevin Jennings, etc. etc.

Let’s face it. CNN is run by cheerleaders, not journalists. They pretend to be a moderate, middle-of-the road network, but every day they tilt the news, and in such obvious ways that anyone who isn’t drinking the Kool-Aid can tell in a heartbeat. They will continue to lose viewers, and deservedly so.

CNN is burying itself with it’s own BS. Their latest ads, which are a combination of “down the middle” and “CNN=politics” shows they have no internal direction – stealing the slogans of both FNC and MSNBC. They claim to do “real journalism” and then ignore the critical stories of the day (as felixw points out above). They are lost and don’t seem to have any inclination or desire to come back to life. Same old anchors, same old pundits, same old bs. They are in complete denial of who and what they are.

Let’s face it boys: Whatever CNN’s faults, and they are manifold, CNN is the cable news standard and America. That’s not going to change anytime soon. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to see whether Greta had Bolton, Gingrich, Morris or Rove on tonight.

Evidence? The ratings suggest differently, no?

  • The Real Royal King

I do believe it is time for Larry King and Barbara Walters to move into an assisted living center and begin a closed circuit television talk show.

The automotive standard in the world has been and remains the Mercedes Benz despite higher sales by many other car manufacturers. The Corolla may sell more, but, in the end, to what does Toyota turn to “inform” engineering and style? That the copy is failed and flawed does not make Mercedes Benz any less the standard.

  • blueblogger

Larry needs to retire. I just can’t watch him any longer. He gives me the creeps. And I used to watch him all the time.

And what is your evidence for any of this? Do you just assume it to be true, what you “believe” to be true, or is there any data to support it?

You can’t just make stuff up because you want to believe it! If you’re going to state a fact, you need to have some sort of support behind it!
