Stephen Colbert Mocks Joy Behar And Whoopi Goldberg By Storming Off The Set Of The View

Colbert The ViewThis afternoon, American treasure Stephen Colbert poked fun at View co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg’s extreme reaction to Bill O’Reilly in the best possible way: by mock-storming off of their set.

Before his melodramatic exit, Colbert was chatting with the women of The View about his “Rally to Keep Fear Alive.” According to the comedian—who, as always, was appearing in character—there are plenty of things Americans should be terrified of, like bedbugs. “I’m terrified of them!” he admitted. “They’re everywhere: movie theaters… I hear they’re on the couch on The View.”

When Sherri Shepherd chided Colbert for that remark, he was ready with another quip: “Yeah. That’s why Whoopi and Joy jumped up the other day, to get away from the bedbugs, I think.”

A quick-thinking producer started to play the infamous clip of Behar and Goldberg walking out on a screen behind the couch as Colbert jovially accused Goldberg of being rude to O’Reilly. When Elisabeth Hasselbeck subsequently asked Colbert what he really thought about the walkout, he jested, “Well, because I’m on your show, I agree with Whoopi. I think there should be mosques everywhere. I think this would make a good mosque.”

Colbert went on to point out that O’Reilly had been talking about emotions rather than logic when he made the remarks that so offended Goldberg and Behar: “Bill was not talking about what the facts were, Bill was talking about what felt right. It feels wrong. That’s what my rally is about. It feels wrong.'”

Then, as soon as the hosts started to respond to his comment, Colbert saw his opening: “I am leaving right now!” he said, before stomping off (and, seconds later, returning to the couch). Video of the entire exchange is below.
