Whoopi Goldberg On The Rising Price Of Gas: ‘It’s Pissing Me Off’

video

Who likes paying more for gas? Not Whoopi Goldberg, that’s for sure. On Monday’s The View, Goldberg said she’s bracing for this week’s profit reports from the oil companies (expected to be in the billions) while steaming about the daily bumps in per gallon costs at the pump. “It’s pissing me off,” she said.

ABC News correspondent Jim Avila, who joined the panel for the show’s “hot topics” segment to explain the skyrocket costs of filling up a family gas tank, may have made matters worse (at least in terms of Goldberg’s irritation with the oil companies) when he told Goldberg not to expect prices to drop anytime soon–it’s the summer driving season, after all–and that it could get far worse.

Avila said the country is “one problem away, one hurricane in the Gulf” from reaching six dollars a gallon for gas. Goldberg’s reaction: “What the hell, man!”

    Stop the presses, Whoopi’s pissed.

If she and her liberal ilk would stop licking Obama’s and the far left’s boots and announce that the U.S. is opening drilling any place we can, offshore, onshore, Anwar, and your grannie’s back yard, the prices would plummet.

OPEC would step up production and drop prices to keep America from drilling.

Shell jsut abandoned plans to drill off the north coast of Alaska after sinking billions into exploration because of Obama’s EPA. The Saudis are smiling like the Cheshire cat.

Wake UP, people, for God’s sake.

And yet we just gave a huge loan guarantee to Brazil so they could drill, baby drill, and then sell the stuff to us. Hopen-Change, Baby!

Join the club, Whoopi. For a real laugh, check out this article “Why you should love $5 gas” from MSN Money:

$4/gallon gas was the end of the world in 2008 when it was Bush’s “fault”. Now, we should love it because Obama is in charge. Ridic.

  • Liberal Tormentor

Whine to your buddy, Obama. He’s the one that said

1-he wanted a gradual increase in gas prices

2-under his plan, energy prices would necessarily skyrocket.

Why are you libs whining now that he’s made good on that?

I guess you don’t know that oil reserves are at an 18 year high and has nothing to do with the price of gas. That would be the fault of the Wall Street speculators who are driving up the prices.

Obama says “there is no silver bullet”, but he is not telling the truth, there in fact is a silver bullet solution, he just doesn’t want to go up against his biggest campaign contributor. Same old story.

All of this and not a single mention of Obama? When Bush was president not a day went by that left wing media sites and the MSM weren’t blaming bush for the high prices.

I guess its just another one of those pesky left wing double standards eh?

““Obama, “under my plan, energy prices will necessarily rise”.” -Obama

Can you imagine if Bush said something like that? This guy has a force field of protection from his own words and actions by our propaganda press.

This post should be repeated every time some idiot Progressive decides to say, “It’s the big, bad oil companies and the SPECULATORS!” BTW, look into your retirement portfolio and see if you have OIL COMPANY STOCK as part of it, then get back to me.

Bernacke’s QE 1 & 2 have devalued the dollar so that EVERY commodity is going through the roof- oil, gold, silver, etc.

Not picking on you tonite, but you’re really misinformed. First of all, supply and demand are laws not even Democrats can ignore. Lack of supply coupled with increased demand drives up prices……………no way around it. Your favorite Hussein has seen to it to stop our production, and that drives up the price. Simple.

Secondly, speculation is on the FUTURE prices of oil, not today’s price. Speculators have ZERO effect on today’s oil prices.

Thirdly, you and Whoopie need to thank Hussein and his energy czar who PROMISED to raise the price of gasoline to match the $7-9 per gallon cost in Europe. That may be the only campaign promise Hussein is respecting, but he’s following through with all stops removed.

The fact that someone can say this and believes it – presuming they do actually believe it, and aren’t just saying it to be argumentative – is a testament to the fact that our public school systems has failed. Too many Americans, like this guy, can’t even begin to understand the inflationary effects of today’s monetary policy, as well as the fairly elementary market forces of supply & demand. Instead, they think “greedy” people who apparently all live on Wall St drive up the price of oil through speculation.

We are DOOMED as a nation, and economic ignorance like this proves it.

  • TillieGlockenspiel

From Jennifer Rubin’s article- this explains a lot about WHY we’re in the mess we’re in.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/obama-out-of-depth-in-troubled-times/2011/03/29/AFzUIadE_blog.html

But what we’ve learned over the past couple of years is that Obama, in no small part due, one can surmise, to years of fawning by rapt liberal academics and pols anxious to praise every utterance, is thin on knowledge and nearly entirely bereft of strategic thinking.

Obama has relied throughout his career on a mix of glossy rhetoric and clever pop psychology. But ask those who observed him during his brief Senate career if he showed a depth of understanding or interest on major legislation. You’ll find he wasn’t much concerned with the details of legislation or the substance of policy debates. Unlike Ronald Reagan, who had fixed principles and an overarching vision of the major international challenges we faced, Obama perpetually vamps. Each crisis and challenge comes as a surprise and is viewed in isolation from other events. He can’t fathom that there are flaws in his own inch-deep theories (e.g., Israeli settlements are the barrier to Middle East peace) or that there are well-reasoned alternative views (e.g., our Syria engagement policy is a moral and strategic flop).

Obama and his defenders whine that these are tough times, tougher than any mortal could be expected to manage. But that’s poppycock. Reagan faced a collapse of American confidence, a sky-high “misery index”and an emboldened Soviet Union. George W. Bush faced the worst attack on American soil in 60 years. All presidents face challenges. The question is do they have the character, the depth of knowledge and the skill to manage them. In Obama’s case there is reason to doubt that he does.

  • Liberal Tormentor

As usual, the liberal media is a disgrace on this issue. They tormented Bush, but are largely giving Obama a pass on high gas prices. I seriously don’t know how they look themselves in the mirror and claim to be unbiased.

Whoopi Goldberg On The Rising Price Of Gas: ‘It’s Pissing Me Off’

This putrid cow is an example of liberal stupidity. I wonder if she recalls the words “Under my plan energy prices would necessarily skyrocket” –Barak Hussein -0bama (Jan 2008)? I’ll bet she will STILL vote for -0bama in 2012.

Free Market conservatives complaining about profit?
    How ironic.
Maybe you’d like to nationalize the oil companies?
Oh, that is how fascists work.
    Nevermind.

Must be racism. That’s always the answer.

  • X-3

I am certain–CERTAIN, mind you–that if we only taxed oil companies a little more and curtailed domestic drilling down to zero and had the EPA put a few more regulations on refineries the price of gasoline would drop like a stone…

  • Tedderman

Whoopi, I love you girl, but loose some weight and you’ll get better mileage.

And oh, if we re instituted the Glass-Stegall act, gas prices would drop like a stone. Current and former members of the C.T.F.C. have said so repeatedly.
