In a remarkable display of reverse colonialism, American entrepreneurs opened both a Five Guys and a Shake Shack in Covent Garden over Fourth of July Weekend, reminding The British Empire whose burgers they will always submit to. Five Guys opened on actual Independence Day, while Danny Meyer opted for a classy July 5th opener.
Digimind generated some infographics tracking each burger joint’s virality across the pond, measuring both of their social media mentions against one another. Five Guys actually won out (perhaps because it was first?) with 59% of mentions over Shake Shack’s 41%. Give the Brits time. They’ll figure out who reigns supreme.
