Chris Cuomo Laughs About His Bizarre Interview With LaVar Ball: I Was Like, ‘What is Happening?!?’
On Wednesday night, CNN’s Chris Cuomo appeared on Late Night and was immediately asked about his off-the-wall interview he had with LaVar Ball this week.
Seth Meyers played some highlights from that 23-minute interview, including when Ball asked Cuomo if he “thanked” his doctor for “bringing him into this world” and he mocked the CNN anchor’s last name by comparing it to Google Chrome.
Cuomo explained what was going through his mind while talking with Ball, asking himself, “Why am I watching this? What is happening?” and told Meyers that he thought he was going to get into Ball’s accusations of President Trump about his lack of involvement in getting his son out of China.
Meyers then asked Cuomo if the thought this feud was the “perfect feud for the times we’re living in.” Cuomo bragged about how he predicted early on via Twitter that when the first “volley” was made that it “could be” an “epic, trash-talking smackdown,” but he never thought that the president would “take the bait.”
“I didn’t even take the bait!” Cuomo exclaimed. “And that’s my job- it’s to take the bait!”
Meyers shot back saying there’s “no bait left in American” because Trump “took all the bait.”
Cuomo teased that a potential followup interview with Ball could happen, at least he hopes it would happen.
“I actually left my phone on because I’m trying to get to LaVar Ball to have him back on,” Cuomo said. “I thought we had a nice bond.”
