Dan Abrams On Rep. Weiner: ‘The Media Is Not Going To Let Go Of This Story’
On Good Morning America, Mediaite founder and ABC legal analyst Dan Abrams discussed with George Stephanopoulos the legal implications of a House ethics investigation for Congressman Anthony Weiner. Abrams warned that Weiner’s most immediate headaches are likely to come from his own Democratic colleagues and from the media who won’t tire of this story anytime soon.
Abrams suggested Weiner’s “greater fear has to be his colleagues who are going to pressure him, rather than the results of an ethics investigation.” Stephanopoulos remarked “this is all about how tough he is and whether he can take this.” Weiner certainly seems like the type capable of fighting, yet with the possibility of more photos being released and with Weiner’s now prominent history of lying, Abrams predicted:
“You can lie to your friends, you can lie to your family. But if you lie to the media on camera, it’s going to be very, very hard to forget about what happened and I think the media is not going to let go of this story.”
With intense media scrutiny and with many calling for Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership to take action against Weiner, he sure seems to have a tough road ahead of him.
