The View Clashes Over Trump’s ‘Fear-Mongering’ on Migrant Caravan: ‘He Makes Up Everything’

The hosts of The View got heated this morning over the migrant caravan that President Donald Trump tweeted about once again this morning, this time claiming that “unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in”:

Sadly, it looks like Mexico’s Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy. Must change laws!

Whoopi Goldberg read the tweet aloud this morning and asked, “Is this straight-up fear-mongering? I mean, when did he start putting the Middle Easterners in?”

“He makes up everything,” Joy Behar said. “He’ll tell you Osama bin Laden is marching.”

Abby Huntsman said this should be taken as a “humanity first” perspective, while Meghan McCain noted, “We’re also a nation of laws and borders.”

She brought up past rumor-mongering about immigrants and said, “When you see these images, this is a conservative fever dream and a gift to the midterm elections because this is exactly what conservatives think people on the left want to have happen into this country. I’m not saying not accepting refugees. I’m not saying not accept legal immigration. What a lot of people on the left are saying––no one on this table––is that you want open borders and no consequences whatsoever.”

Sunny Hostin said she wishes that “people on the right would tell the truth about what’s really happening in immigration.”

“Did you just accuse me of not telling the truth?” McCaain asked.

“I’m not talking about you personally,” Hostin said.

Huntsman agreed with McCain and said, “This does help President Trump. It’s what he campaigned on. He’s been consistent. You know where he is on immigration. Democrats have got to figure out what their messaging is.”

“All I know is that these people are not coming to take your Social Security, your Medicare, and Medicaid,” Behar added. “Mitch McConnell and the Republicans are the ones who are doing that.”
