Trey Gowdy Blasts James Comey: ‘His Whole Book Tour’ is Quite Frankly a ‘Pretty Weaselly Thing’

House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) weighed in on former FBI Director James Comey and the the recent release of his memos.

It was reported earlier that two out of the seven memos contained classified information and the DOJ inspector general Michael Horowitz is now reportedly investigating the leaks.

Gowdy began by slamming Comey for his “morality tour” as he promotes his new book A Higher Loyalty. He was then asked if he thought the former FBI Director broke the law by leaking his memos. He responded by saying he has “no way of knowing” but that he trusts Horowitz to determine whether or not Comey did. Gowdy did however chastise Comey for the “standard” he set for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her mishandling of classified information, something Comey deemed wasn’t unlawful.

The congressman then blasted Comey for the “double standard” that he has when it comes to President Trump and how his asking to end the investigation into Gen. Michael Flynn is “an impeachable offense” but when President Obama prejudges the outcome of the Clinton investigation, “that’s okay.”

“Jim Comey said, ‘I don’t do sneaky things,’ except memorialize private conversations. ‘I don’t leak,’ except when I do leak. And ‘I don’t do weasel things,'” Gowdy continued. “I think this whole book tour is a pretty weaselly thing, quite frankly.”
