In a CNN panel for first-time voters, a young conservative explained that Millennial voters could learn a lot from the “older generations” and their “traditional values”.
CNN’s Carol Costello admitted that she wasn’t sure what that meant.
Robert Wines, who is casting his first vote for independent conservative candidate Evan McMullin, said, “Millennials have to be more accepting of traditional values … that are greatly found in the older generations.”
“Hm,” Costello said, “I’m trying to figure out what you mean by that.”
Wines’s co-panelist, another first-time voter, Adriyanna Andreus, who is supporting Clinton, When I think of traditional values I think of a system of systematic oppression, racism. So I can’t really resonate with that. Someone whose family, like I said before, coming from Haiti for freedom and hasn’t been able to experience that, I don’t think … ‘traditions’ are the best way to look at it.”
