Ex-CNN Employee Sues Network, Claims He Was Fired for ‘Flamboyant’ Clothes

William Kane, a former operations employee for CNN, is filing suit for $60 million against his former employer, claiming discrimination played a factor in his firing from the network. Kane says no one complained about him wearing bright colors or mariachi suits to work until his supervisor learned he was gay.

According to New York Daily News, Kane says “the workplace turned hostile” at that point, despite no one complaining prior about wearing bright colors to work. His supervisors allegedly told him after the discovery to stop wearing the mariachi suits “because it was too flamboyant for a male in our department.”

Kane claims he was told both Piers Morgan and Erin Burnett were distracted by his bright clothes, which both reportedly denied. Kane contends other employees wore bright clothes, but he was singled out for his sexuality.

A CNN spokesperson tells Mediaite: “We have not seen the lawsuit. The EEOC dismissed the claims finding no violations.”
