Guess Who’s Releasing an Anti-Obesity Rap Album…

As part of her anti-obesity Let’s Move! campaign, First Lady Michelle Obama will release “Songs for a Healthier America,” a hip-hop album focused on healthy eating, on September 10.

No, to answer your first and pressing question, she doesn’t rap on it, or even sing backup. Rather, Obama gathered some major names in hip-hop, including Jordin Sparks, Ashanti, Run DMC, Doug E. Fresh and Monifah, for songs with such as “U R What You Eat” and “Veggie Luv.”

The album will be released together with Partnership for a Healthier America and Hip Hop Public Health, and many of the tunes will have accompanying music videos that will be played at schools in New York City, before wider distribution across the nation.
