Jimmy Fallon Compares Donald Trump to King Joffrey During His Golden Globes Monologue
Jimmy Fallon began tonight’s broadcast of the Golden Globes by singing in a limousine on a red carpet traffic jam, getting out of the car and being joined by other stars in his song. There was also a cute little joke based on Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow rising from the dead, complete with Kit Harington.
This segued into Fallon playing piano and singing, with Ryan Reynolds laying on the piano. This then switched over to a fantasy dance sequence with frequent collaborator Justin Timberlake.
In his monologue, The Tonight Show host stumbled a bit with a live TV moment with regards to his teleprompter before finally getting onto the jokes. Right away, as you figured he would, he started with a Donald Trump joke, saying this is a place where they still “honor the popular vote.”
He took another shot at Trump, comparing him to King Joffrey of Game of Thrones. “Many people wondering what it would be like if King Joffrey had lived. Well, in 12 days we’re gonna find out,” he said, to a smattering of laughs.
He also mentioned Vladimir Putin, stating that the numbers were tabulated by “the accounting firm of Ernst, Young and Putin” before getting right to the awards
