“Dem Party is F****d,” read a subject headline in an email sent to National Journal Editorial Director Ron Fournier. In a report detailing the “incoming from Democrats” he is privy to, Fournier revealed that this email was sent to him by a “senior Democratic consultant with strong ties to the White House and Capitol Hill.”
The body of the email contained a link to a Los Angeles Times story chronicling the price increases that currently insured are experiencing as the Affordable Care Act roll-out continues. “Many middle-class Californians with individual health plans are surprised they need policies that cover more — and cost more,” the LA Times revealed.
The consultant told Fournier that they were unmoved by arguments like those submitted by Business Insider’s Josh Barro, who contended that the ACA’s regulations on existing health insurance plans are beneficial and plans which are not compliant with the ACA need to be discontinued.
The consultant might agree in spirit with this sentiment, but notes that President Barack Obama was not honest when he contended that no one would lose their existing health insurance plan when the ACA was passed. “We will own this problem forever,” the Democratic insider wrote.
