Somebody Named a Racehorse Harambe, and He’s Going to Run Next Week

gorilla harambeSo apparently there is a Thoroughbred racehorse named Harambe. And next Wednesday, he’s going to race at Churchill Downs — home of the Kentucky Derby.

Turf writer Marty McGee shared the news via Twitter:

Owner Muzeyyen Karabulut named the 2-year-old Kentucky bred after the gorilla whose killing in May 2016 broke many hearts across the country, and inspired countless internet memes.

The horse is running in what is called a maiden claiming race, meaning that he is up for sale. So Harambe can be yours for the low low price of $15,000.
