Tapper: ‘How Much Longer Will the Attorney General Be Able to Take All This Trolling?’
Ever since President Donald Trump told the New York Times last week that he was upset with Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself in the Russia probe, the president has taken to Twitter to take shots at his “beleaguered” AG. In the wake of his mean tweets, his new communications director is saying he likely wants Sessions gone while it is being reported that Trump is having conversations about how firing Sessions would play out in conservative media.
After another day started with Trump tweeting out harsh criticisms of Sessions, CNN’s Jake Tapper asked a question many are probably pondering.
“How much longer will the attorney general be able to take all this trolling?” Tapper asked at the begging of The Lead.
After recapping the whole drama that has unfolded over the past few days surrounding Sessions, the CNN anchor broke down what this all really means.
“The story here is that President Trump will want someone at the Justice Department who will exert tighter reins, if not a scythe, when it comes to the [special counsel Robert] Mueller investigation,” he noted.
Tapper added, “Loyalty, ability, policy aside — the president wants him gone.”
