Trump Insists Shutdown Deal Is ‘In No Way a Concession’ Despite No Funding for Wall

Shortly after the House passed the continuing resolution ending the shutdown on Friday, President Donald Trump insisted that the deal was ‘in no way a concession” at all.

“I wish people would read or listen to my words on the Border Wall,” Trump wrote. “This was in no way a concession. It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it’s off to the races!”

Trump’s tweet comes as he is facing sharp criticism from normally pro-Trump commentators for his decision — in their words — to “cave” on his demands for a wall.

And minutes before he tweeted, Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs––a big Trump supporter––said that Trump got beaten by Nancy Pelosi on this.

The temporary measure — which does not include funding for the wall — will now land on Trump’s desk to sign, officially ending the lengthy shutdown at least for three weeks.
