Trump Says He Has No Intention of Pivoting to a More ‘Controlled, Presidential’ Mode
'I want to be myself. It got me here.'
Asked if he was planning to “pivot” from his loose, improvisatory campaigning style to a more “controlled, presidential” mode, Donald Trump said, “I don’t think so. I want to be myself. It got me here.”
Speaking with Fox’s Bret Baier in an interview that aired Wednesday evening, Trump also dismissed any hopes that he would release his tax returns before the audit was completed and said he was planning to touch on a panoply of issues in his convention speech.
“Fortunately, I have the kind of memory where I can do it [give speeches] without teleprompters,” Trump said.
“Are you going to use a teleprompter at the convention?” Baier asked.
“A lot of people have asked me that question. They said boy, that could be a great speech without a telemprompter, but I’m probably going to use a teleprompter.”
“What is the story you’re going to tell at the convention?” Baer asked.
“I’m going to tell a lot of stories at the convention,” he said, before segueing to law and order and then to the media’s capacity for distorting things.
