Trump Takes Some Time Out During Energy Speech to Call CNN ‘Fake News’

With so much media attention being taken up by President Donald Trump’s bleeding facelift tweet about MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski and the subsequent outrage it has created, one would think that the president would use his “Unleashing American Energy” speech to change the narrative.

Instead, he took some time out during the speech to call CNN “Fake news.” Again.

Claiming that it was a “big, beautiful myth” that “draconian” restrictions would solve the energy crisis, he then went on a riff about his favorite media target.

“It was fake,” Trump said. “Don’t we love that term? fake. What we’ve learned about fake over the last little while. Fake news. CNN. Fake.”

He then acted as if CNN turned their cameras off after he made that little aside — they didn’t — before snarking that he wouldn’t “say anything more about” the network.

Lately, the president and pro-Trump media figures have been attacking CNN over their retraction of a Russia probe story that led to the resignations of three journalists.
