Video Shows 4chan Users Bringing Gun to Protest: ‘We Are Locked and Loaded’
A video of two self-described 4chan users bringing a gun to Minneapolis four days before five Black Lives Matter protesters were shot by alleged white supremacists has surfaced online.
According to Gawker, the Minneapolis chapter of Black Lives Matter posted the video to Facebook on Friday after one of the group’s supporters discovered the original on Thursday. The original source has since been deleted.
The two men, who identify themselves as SaigaMarine and BlackPowderRanger, are seen wearing camouflage and balaclavas. They never refer to one another by their real names, though they openly discuss the racial tension in Minneapolis in a derogatory manner.
“We’re going to see what these fucking dindus are up to,” says SaigaMarine, adding: “And yes, we are locked and loaded.”
At that point, he brandishes a pistol.
Feigning shock, BlackPowderRanger exclaims: “You have a gun?”
“Why do you hate freedom?” SaigaMarine jokes back.
Following additional references to “dindus” and other racially-insensitive terms, the two men sign off with apparent references to 4chan’s “politically incorrect” message board, /pols/.
After additional investigation, Gawker determined that 4chan had acknowledged the video on Tuesday — especially SaigaMarine — but users were generally convinced the pair wasn’t responsible for Monday night’s shootings. One of three suspects had already been caught near Bloomington, while a second was arrested in Minneapolis.
