Who Tops the Newest Poll Out This Morning?

TrumpClinton94The results of the nation’s newest CNN/ORC poll are in, and it ain’t pretty…

…if you’re Hillary Clinton.

Despite the former Secretary of State’s impressive $143 million fundraising haul for the month of August, the newest polls — which tracked over September 1-4, shows GOP challenger Donald Trump gaining on the Democratic nominee.

Trump now leads Clinton, “by a scant two points among likely voters,” according to CNN Polling Director Jennifer Agiesta.

While Trump’s 45% tops Clinton’s 43%, Libertarian candidate and former New Mexco Mayor Gary Johnson clocks in at 7%, with Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party notching 2%. With the first event from the Commission on Presidential Debates only a few weeks away, no third party candidate is currently tracking at the 15% minimum support required for stage accessibility for that Long Island, NY event.

At least in the metrics of this poll, it’s independents that give Trump the boost over Clinton; while 92% of Democrats support Clinton compared to 90% of Republicans behind Trump, independent voters favor Trump 49% to 29% Clinton.

So, perhaps the brutal month of headlines do not serve as an indicator for how the American people feel about Trump just 64 days before the election. “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated,” Mark Twain once quipped, and the Trump campaign — now perhaps surging a bit — is proving that statement true.
