He starred in the White House’s official April Fools’ Day video. And recently, YouTube star Kid President got a chance to hang out in the Oval Office with actual President Barack Obama. In adorable new video, the third-grader chats with the president and gives Obama this piece of “advice”: “You’re doing awesome!”
President Obama gave 9-year-old Robbie Novak, who has been appearing in videos as Kid President since July 2012, a tour of the Oval Office, showing him a copy of the program from Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech and explaining to him what a telegraph is. The one question that Novak came prepared with was: “What can kids and grown-ups work together to change the world?”
Obama told him that the “most important thing” we can do is “treat each other with kindness and respect” and “treat everybody fairly no matter what they look like or where they’re from.” If kids can learn to do that, he said, “when they grow, they’ll be doing the same thing and we’ll have a lot fewer problems.” It was a simple message, but it clearly resonated with the young man.
