Howard Schultz Says He’ll Siphon Off Millions of Trump Voters ‘On Character Alone’
Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz told CNN’s S.E. Cupp on Saturday that he thinks he will siphon off millions of likely Republican voters from Trump if he decides to run for president in 2020.
Cupp started off by asking Schultz if he was surprised by the Democratic pushback to his potential run.
“You know, I think we expected certainly there would be a level of resistance, not to the degree it came,” Schultz replied. “It’s kind of softened a little bit. Now I think they’re focused on Joe Biden.”
He then said this: “But I think clearly whatever the Democrats are thinking about, I have no understanding why they believe that an extreme position that resembles socialism is going to defeat Donald Trump. It’s not going to happen.”
Cupp then asked him why he was “so convinced” he would woo over millions of Trump voters in 2020.
“On character alone,” Schultz insisted. “There’s millions of lifelong Republicans who do not want to vote for this president and they’re not going for Bernie Sanders. The reason they’re dissatisfied is character, morality.”
He then said that during a town hall on Fox, he asked the audience who want to see their children behave like Trump.
According to Schultz, “Not one hand went up.”
