Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough had an uncontrollable laughing fit over Dog-gate 2012.
In his very welcome “News You Can’t Use” segment, co-host Willie Geist reminded us that, in his book Dreams From my Father, President Barack Obama shares that as a child he had sampled, among other dishes, dog meat. This little tidbit is now being used as fodder against the President by Republicans eager to hit back against the torrent of criticism presumptive nominee Mitt Romney has received for transporting his family dog on the roof of his car.
Then, in a recent interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer, Romney’s wife, Ann, shared that the dog had gotten “the runs” after eating turkey off a counter.
“You don’t have to say it!” Scarborough yelled. “Give us less! Less is more! You don’t have to explain it… Don’t talk about the dog’s runs!”
The panel was then shown a picture Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod had Tweeted after Romney’s dog story initially hit the press, showing President Obama and his dog, Bo, riding in a car. “How loving owners transport their dogs,” Axelrod had written. “That’s the dog he tried to eat,” Scarborough noted sagely.
Romney’s senior adviser has now hit back with a Tweet of his own, writing “In hindsight, a chilling photo.”
Scarborough lost it laughing.
