Two veterans clashed on Fox News tonight over Donald Trump not raising and donating as much money to vets’ groups so far as he and his campaign have been claiming for months.
Sgt. Robert Bartlett said that anyone who says they support veterans needs to actually do “follow-through” on that.
Kelly confronted Navy SEAL and Trump supporter Carl Higbie on why Trump falsely claimed $6 million was raised. Higbie said that Trump has given so much to vets over the years, but Kelly interjected, “That’s a dodge.”
Higbie insisted this is a “witch hunt,” likened this to kids complaining about getting “a Lexus instead of a Lamborghini,” and brought up the fact that a vets protest outside Trump Tower was set up by the Clinton campaign.
He also scolded Bartlett for his “fairly shallow” dismissal of Trump’s generosity, calling it “uncharacteristic of a veteran.” Bartlett told Higbie he’s misinterpreting his words and just said people should be accountable for what they say.
