New York City Subway Rat Video: The Sequel!

If you enjoyed the original Rat Climbs On Sleeping Man On Subway video, you’ll be happy to know NYC Transit has served up a sequel–this time, video of one New York’s rattiest running underneath the seats on a crowded R train in mid-afternoon.

As the New York Daily News reports this morning, the entire spectacle was caught on camera by Brooklyn resident Nelson Gomez, who captured a rather remarkable scene:

The video shows people jumping up to their feet, some climbing to stand on the orange and yellow seats, as the rat runs along the floor. Screams and laughter can be heard.

Gomez emailed NYC The Blog to explain how the rat sequel came to be:

Gomez said he was riding an R train in Manhattan on his way to the dentist on Tuesday around 3:00pm when the rat entered the car at the Wall Street station and scurried from one end to the other, and back again

Seriously, New York? Jumping up on the seats? Because of a rat? You realize Boston’s going to have a field day with that, don’t you?

At any rate, sit back, relax, and enjoy the fright, from YouTube:

I saw a rat as big as a large cat once where I used to live. This little fellow looked like a MOUSE!

If I may, a correction: It was not The Daily News that reported: “the entire spectacle was caught on camera by Brooklyn resident Nelson Gomez,” but rather NYC The Blog, who spoke with Gomez via email, and which The Daily News makes clear. http://nyctheblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/welcome-to-new-york-and-rats-on-train.html

Maybe it’s time to privatize the MTA, it’s obvious that their LABOR-UNION workers aren’t cleaning those trains.
