Robert Gibbs Comes To Rescue Of American Press Corp In Copenhagen
Tensions ran high outside Barack Obama’s second meeting Friday with Chinese Premier Wen Jiaba during the Copenhagen Climate Conference when the American media was denied entrance to the staging area. The respective press corps from China and the U.S. started getting physical with one another until White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stepped in and threatened to cancel the meeting “unless my guys get in.”
A staunch (and some say smarmy) defender of the Obama administration, Gibbs has few fans on the right side of the aisle. But this clip acquits him quite well, as a defender of free speech and the American way. One can’t help but wonder how this clip will affect the Gibbs image with his political foes.
