Jake Tapper Zings Tucker Carlson, The ‘Russian Judge’

Jake Tapper, hosting ABC’s This Week today, tossed off a neat zinger at Daily Caller impresario Tucker Carlson that might land him in hot water with some conservative viewers. In a segment during which the roundtable panelists were dispensing grades on the President’s first year in office, Jake turned to Carlson and said “I feel like I’m going to the Russian judge in the Olympics.”

I’m not sure how protective the right is of Tucker Carlson, but before any of them gets their teabags in an uproar, watch how Carlson immediately proves Tapper correct:

Tucker gives President Obama a “D” grade on his first year in office for answering Oprah Winfrey‘s question. The defense rests.

Granted, Tucker was trying to be funny, but even on that one point, he shows the chasm between Americans and the current conservative opposition. Carlson thinks Obama should have answered the question like every other politician would have, a symbol of the right’s embrace of politics as usual, and the promise of the Obama presidency not to do so.

It’s that promise that haunts the President’s approval ratings, as he has used that established toolkit in order to try to get from point A to point B.

Also worth noting is the difference between Carlson’s “no axe” promise for the Daily Caller, and the Lizzie Borden-esque reality.

Every one at the table was extremely partisan so singling out Carlson makes no sense nor does any suggestion of corruption or lack of intelligence you might take from it as these people are all pretty equal, and not deserving of such a implication.Perhaps Tapper is revealing his personal bias, something that should be suppressed in that environment and isn’t know for at ABC.Maybe he should apply for a job at MSNBC.

“gets their teabags in an uproar” – stay classy Tommy. It is getting more and more clear that mediaite=msnbc=newsweek.

  • Fidoohki

I”m sorry Tommy but based on what Ed Schultz said, you guys on the left are the LAST group of people
that gets to decide who is and isn’t ‘American’.

As for the joke? I got no problem with it. Tucker is a heavy conservative voice. I expected it to be low but
let’s face facts. Obama grading himself was a a little arrogant.

    From the same show:

TUCKER CARLSON, THE DAILY CALLER: Katrina, will you stop with the Teabaggers thing? I mean, what is a Teabagger? That’s such a stupid, I mean, come on.

If Obama deserves such high grades, why is he tanking in the polls? And why are people opposed to the curernt health care reform bill? Why is Brown leading Coakley in the polls?

…gets their teabags in an uproar…? What does that even mean? Seriously, does that even make sense?

Where’s my Mediaite Bingo card again…

  • same2u

    “What does that even mean?”

Haven’t you heard the expression “Don’t get your dander up”?

Same thing, but using a derivation of Oxford’s runner-up new word of the year “teabagger”.

  • MooseOfReason

How arrogant is it, though, to give yourself a B?

  • Fidoohki

    A little…:P

Pardon me, but if it isn’t another chance to link toward Tucker’s website, I’m not sure that I see the purpose behind this post. What I hear from the clip was a light-hearted segue to next the next guest. Nothing sinister; nothing more.

“but before any of them gets their teabags in an uproar”

way to stay above the fray, tommy. despicable

  • Tommy Christopher

The teabagging segment is coming soon.

Another gem from the POS, Ed Schultz apologist.

I am glad you guys on the left are so open to other’s views. /s

Tucker Carlson must be one of the most annoying people in the world. He’s self-rightenous, pompous and elitist. It’s like he speaks with the tone as if his farts don’t stink.
