Rep. Alan Grayson Claims Death Threats Against Him Are As Serious As JFK, MLK, John Lennon

video

Controversial Rep. Alan Grayson is a little bit worried about his health. After a Media Research Center personality tweeted a request to his followers to punch Grayson in the face (“I just want to let them know that I punch back,” the Congressman replied then), his office received a legitimate death threat, which Grayson compared to some of the most high-profile assassinations in history.

After a very lengthy introduction from MSNBC host Ed Schultz railing against “Brent Bozell‘s joke of a website,” Newsbusters, Grayson appeared on the program to talk about what he sees as a growing trend on the right of having its leaders incite violence against political opponents. “This is the way they are, but despite their best intentions, I’m still alive,” he told Schultz. Grayson accused Sarah Palin of coming down from “Sasquatch, Alaska” and telling Florida Tea Party “zombie minions to take me out, like she was trying to shoot a moose from a helicopter,” saying it was typical of conservative to behave this way. He also compared the seriousness of the death threats to “John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X,” and “John Lennon.”

He was, however, flattered despite it all that the death threat warned of ten people involved in his death. “Do they think I’m Rasputin or somebody?”

Does anyone know if that $100 offer from the MRC writer to smash Grayson in the dome is still valid ?

Grayson , who had a distinguished career as Satan’s bookie , has a new career as a fashion consultant with the Ringling Bros . company in Sarasota . The circus people want him to design some new clown costumes for them , similar to his current wardrobe , just not as gaudy . He’ll start the job right after he is tossed out of Congress , to the relief of both parties .

Is Alan aware that JFK was shot by a communist, RFK was shot by a Muslim extremist, and Malcolm X was killed by a fellow black Muslim? Were these the right wing assassins he was referring to?

All this attention on this Ed creep reminds me of my last bout with diarrhea. You know, just when you think it’s gone, whoa…there it is again. Lots of similarities actually. At that moment, we’re both full of ……

If there are death threats against Alan Grayson, they must be coming from the Left. For Republicans, this guy is a walking-and-talking advertisement for the dangers of putting Democrat ideologues in office.

The JourNoList and CabaList must have advised the Democrats if playing the race-card doesn’t work, try accusing conservatives of death threats!

It’s only a matter of time before the violent rhetoric of the right leads to another politician being harmed. I tried to listen to talk radio a few times this week, just to gauge the state of it. It was so negative, filled with dehumanizing insults directed at everyone even remotely not far right wing, with statements loaded with suggested violence throughout.

No, I wasn’t reading too much into it. I invite anyone that can stomach it, give it a shot for a few drives during your commute.

Alan was my attorney. He somehow managed to allow, or enable, an $11 million settlement to fall through the cracks. He told me and a number of other people that his political staff and members of his law firm would be willing to “Die For Him.”

I guess he is determined to give his staff a chance to demonstrate their allegiance.

Thank goodness that Alan Grayson isn’t my Rep.in Central Florida but he is very close.

Everyone in Central Florida laughs at him. He wants to make his name and he will do it by acting as outrageous as he can be. In Florida, that actually can work…but, just in general, he has tons of money…he seems to be enjoying the publicity…he hasn’t done anything for his Congressional district but he probably still will get re-elected given his money and “pandering” to the City and County officials in Orlando and Orange county.

His money may be behind an alternate Tea Party that acts like idiots to juxtapose himself as an alternative.

    All on local news tape.

  • lazzzlo

Source is Wikipedia…but it is easier to use Wikipedia than trying to highlight the tangled politics of Orlando and Orange county…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Grayson

In 2006, Grayson first entered into electoral politics, losing the 2006 Democratic primary for Florida’s 8th Congressional District to Charlie Stuart, a prominent local businessman and center-right Democrat.[12] Stuart went on to lose the general election to incumbent Republican Congressman Ric Keller.[13] In late 2007, Grayson announced that he would run again for the 8th District seat, and again faced Stuart in the primary. During the primary, his campaign retained the services of Bill Hillsman.

In the August 26, 2008 Democratic primary, Grayson prevailed, receiving 48.5% of the vote. Stuart trailed with 27.5%, with three other candidates splitting the remaining 24%.[14] During the general election campaign, Grayson maintained a consistent lead over Keller, who had barely eked out renomination in the Republican primary over attorney Todd Long. On Election Day, Grayson received 172,854 votes, or 52%, to Keller’s 159,490 votes, or 48%.[15] Although Keller won three out of four counties in the district, Grayson won by a margin of 55% to 45% in Orange County, home to Orlando and by far the largest county in the district.[16].

Grayson was also helped by a massive voter registration drive that gave Democrats a slight edge in registered voters. My emphasis.

Grayson is the second Democrat to represent this district since its formation after the 1970 census (it was the 5th District from 1973 to 1993 and has been the 8th District since 1993). The only other Democrat to represent this district, Bill Gunter, gave it up after only one term to run for the United States Senate in 1974.

Do not give Grayson the opportunity to “piss” you off.

The political atmosphere in this country created by the right winged media FAUX News and tea partiers is toward violence against “all” perceived enemies. It is virulent and corrosive. So, when Alan Grayson says he takes the threats against his person seriously, he absolutely should. It is the same crap, that pro-lifers spiel:
The doctor who performs abortions should be killed and then don’t take responsibility for their inflammatory rhetoric,. when someone kills the doctor. Grayson speaks out on important issues. I support his right to express those views openly and without intimidation.
Get over it folks!!! VOODOO economics failed to Trickle Down and the tax cuts for the very wealthy should be allowed to expire as planned. The tax HOLIDAY for the rich is over. Clarifications as follows: Keller had more votes on Super Tuesday (the day of the election), absentee were close, I think slight edge to Grayson, it was the 3 weeks of early voting and putting t shirts and caps on every new voter that gained Grayson a 50,000 to 25,000 over Keller.
