Fox’s Andrea Tantaros: Media Ignoring IRS Marks ‘Death of Legitimate Journalism’

The hosts of The Five today couldn’t believe how little media coverage Monday night’s IRS hearing got. Eric Bolling was amazed at how the hearing didn’t even warrant a mention on the New York Times front page, Greg Gutfeld mockingly asked if it’s going to take the IRS executing tea partiers for the media to care, and Andrea Tantaros said the media’s decision to mostly ignore the hearing marks “the death of legitimate journalism.”

Dana Perino pointed that it’s bad election-year politics for the Democrats to be “bending over backwards to defend the IRS.” Bob Beckel agreed there’s some kind of conspiracy afoot, but not to the lengths the others believe it to be.

Tantaros said this IRS scandal shows why the NSA scandal is also so worrisome, because if the administration thinks it can target political enemies through the IRS, it could rationalize doing so through the NSA. She charged this would already be grounds for a serious talk of impeachment under a Republican and the fact that the media has mostly ignored this scandal is “the death of legitimate journalism” in the United States.

Gutfeld added that the media’s “abdicated their spines” and their “arrogance has grown so wildly” that they’ve basically become aware of their own corruptive tendencies and just don’t care.
