A Washington D.C. police officer is under investigation after allegedly making threatening comments toward First Lady Michelle Obama. The officer, who was a motorcycle escort for White House officials, was moved to administrative duties, according to The Washington Post.
On Wednesday morning, several officers from the Special Operations Division were discussing threats made against the Obamas. The officer in question allegedly “said he would shoot the First Lady and then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use. It was not immediately clear what type of firearm was allegedly shown.”
“Several police officials” said they overheard the officer make the comments. The police department’s Internal Affairs Division informed the U.S. Secret Service, and is following up by investigating the alleged remarks.
“We received an allegation that inappropriate comments were made. We are currently investigating the nature of those comments,” D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said in an e-mail to the Post.
