Major News Networks Not Interested in Hiring Sean Spicer as Contributor, Cite ‘Credibility’ Issues

Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News have all expressed disinterest in inking a paid contributor deal with former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
NBC News reported Tuesday that all the major news networks passed on Spicer, despite representatives pursuing meetings with outlets on behalf of the ex-Trump Administration comms member in the hopes of an exclusive paid contributing role. “They won’t touch him… The news organizations might use him on round tables, but [a paid exclusive contributor job] is not happening,” said an unnamed industry executive aware of Spicer’s situation.
Additionally, NBC cited other anonymous media figures with knowledge of Spicer’s career possibilities who claim “lack of credibility” hurt his chances. Both CNN and Fox News — cable networks notorious for providing homes to ex-White House press secretaries — shot down the idea of Spicer joining their team earlier this month.
However, Spicer does still have options: he’s locked down a visiting fellow spot at Harvard University, set up paid speaking gigs, and even had a chance to appear on ABC — though, as a “Dancing with the Stars” contestant and not a pundit.
Since opting to leave the White House over Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci’s short lived communications director role, Spicer took his talents to the Emmy Awards for a self-deprecating cameo appearance where he mocked his own “largest audience to witness an inauguration, period” comment — a line he claims to now “absolutely regret.”
