Several D.C. Restaurants Are Donating Inauguration Profits to Charities Including Planned Parenthood
Washington D.C. is about to get very busy. In just over two weeks, President-Elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated. One group has organized an effort to get restaurants to donate their profits from January 20-22 to charity, and over a dozen are participating.
According to its website, All in Service “celebrates D.C.’s diversity by giving back to local organizations that keep our community thriving.” Sarah Massey, who is helping to organize the effort told Buzzfeed News that they “would love to see the entire DC service industry participate” and are currently talking to a dozen more businesses.
Once businesses have decided to participate, they select an organization to give profits to. Among the five options are Planned Parenthood, and Ayuda, which provides support to immigrants in D.C. and the surrounding areas.
Massey told Buzzfeed News that the effort is not meant to be Anti-Trump, but rather a “celebration of D.C.’s diversity.”
