Steve Bannon Subpoenaed by Robert Mueller in Russia Special Counsel Investigation
Former Trump Campaign CEO Steve Bannon has received a subpoena from Robert Mueller, and it seems the ex-Breitbart chief will face questions from the special counsel investigating Russian election interference.
The New York Times reports that Bannon received his subpoena last week, meaning he is required to testify before the grand jury. This is the first time Mueller has invoked a subpoena for a member of President Donald Trump‘s team, and this development comes after the special investigation clamped down on former allies like Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, and Michael Flynn.
Earlier today, Bannon appeared before on Capitol Hill for a closed-door interview with the House Intel Committee about his time with the Trump campaign. There’s a solid possibility that Bannon was asked about his statements in Michael Wolff‘s book, particularly the part where he said the infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Kremlin-affiliated lawyer was “treasonous.”
Trump has not responded to this development yet, though he and the White House have throughly denounced Bannon in the last few weeks, and here’s his latest tweet on the Russia investigations:
Do you notice the Fake News Mainstream Media never likes covering the great and record setting economic news, but rather talks about anything negative or that can be turned into the negative. The Russian Collusion Hoax is dead, except as it pertains to the Dems. Public gets it!
