The Great Big Roundup of Anchors and Reporters Wearing Red on International Women’s Day
Today is not only International Women’s Day, but also the day of the Day Without a Woman strike. The organizers of the strike requested that women wear red today in solidarity with one another, regardless of if they were striking or supported the strike at all, and from offices to the streets where they marched, women absolutely obliged.
So, too, did anchors and reporters from all of your favorite networks.
Here are all of the red-wearing broadcasters that Mediaite was able to confirm were decked out in honor of the big day.
From MSNBC, Mika Brzezinski, Stephanie Ruhle, and Greta Van Susteren were all wearing red in honor of IWD.

Later on that same channel, Craig Melvin introduced a number of guests wearing red ties and pointed out as much, though he was not wearing red.
“I’m not wearing red because I’m an idiot,” he joked. Hey, everyone forgets to color-coordinate on holidays sometimes!
“I’m wearing red and I also showed up for work today,” quipped Melissa Francis on Fox News Channel‘s Outnumbered. She joked about having it “both ways” by supporting IWD but not going on strike.

Over at Cheddar, Hope King followed the vermillion trend during a segment on women in STEM careers.

King told us this:
I wanted to acknowledge the date in a subtle way, and have a visual cue for one of the themes of our editorial coverage today.
We were also able to confirm that yes, during her broadcast on HLN this morning, Michaela Pereira was sporting red for International Women’s Day, too.

Hosts and producers at The Young Turks got the memo for what to wear today, as well. Here are TYT‘s Kim Horcher, Hannah Cranston, Sophie Tsai, Asher Coffield, Leah Shover, Irma Brito, and Irina Nichita. Beyond them, Cenk Uygur will be sporting red for the in-studio broadcast tonight. (As we told you earlier today, all of TYT‘s women are spending the day in the field and leaving the men in the studio.)

Chief Marketing Officer Praveen Singh said this:
Women at The Young Turks hold integral roles in the company. When we discussed International Womens’ Day, we decided that our involvement needed to be broader than a strike. We have the responsibility to provide a platform to amplify and discuss these types of important issues. The Women of TYT made personal decisions on how they wanted to participate in #ADayWithoutAWoman and everyone in the company has been chipping in to support out involvement in today’s events. Our hosts have decided to wear red today to support women’s issues everywhere.
Over at New York 1, Jeanine Ramirez wore red while telling viewers about — what else? — the strikes and initiatives of other red-wearers throughout the city and country at large.

A Charter Communications spokesperson was able to confirm that the wardrobe choice was a deliberate nod to the day.
At Abrams Media’s own LawNewz, host Beth Karas had two distinct organizations in mind when she got dressed this morning.

“I’m here to support all women, but in particular victims of FGM,” she explained to Mediaite. Specifically, she wore red to show support for Equality Now and Women for Women International, two groups who work for women around the world every day.
We weren’t able to confirm if CNN‘s Alisyn Camerota, Poppy Harlow, and Kate Bolduan did it on purpose, but here they are in red, too.

Happy International Women’s Day!
