Trump in Letter to Comey: ‘You Are Not Able to Effectively Lead the Bureau’

Following the stunning termination of FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday, the White House released a letter from President Donald Trump to the now former Director informing him of his removal from the post.

“While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau,” Trump wrote.

The news comes just a few hours after Press Secretary Sean Spicer failed to say that Trump had confidence in Comey at his Tuesday briefing.

“I have no reason to believe — I haven’t asked him. I have not asked the President since the last time we spoke about this,” Spicer said.
