Trump: ‘President Obama Seems More in Support of Muslims Than Israel’

donald-trumpDonald Trump has been getting a lot of flak for deliberately vague comments about President Obama today on the Orlando massacre. He said, “We’re led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he’s got something else in mind… There’s something going on.”

Now, many took this to mean that Trump thinks the president shares sympathies with radical Muslims, let alone radical Muslim terrorists. The Washington Post read between the lines, concluded Trump was making the sinister suggestion that Obama had something to do with Orlando, and Trump was so angry about it he revoked their press access.

But Trump sent a statement to Bloomberg, through spokeswoman Hope Hicks, clarifying what he meant:

“I was referring to the fact that at times President Obama seems more in support of Muslims than Israel.”

(Note: he’s saying “Muslims” as a whole here, as opposed to radical Muslims or the like.)

The statement went on to invoke the Iran deal, which Trump said “is great for Iran and bad for Israel and the United States.”

Which makes you wonder why he didn’t just say that in the first place, instead of just falling back on “there’s something going on” or “he doesn’t get it or he gets it better than anybody understands” or even “I’ll let people figure that out for themselves.”
