Speaking from prepared remarks and using a Teleprompter, Trump admitted that he had “regret” for occasionally saying “the wrong things” — “particularly where it may have caused personal pain.”
“Sometimes in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don’t choose the right words or you say the wrong thing,” he told supporters in Charlotte, North Carolina Thursday night. “I have done that.”
He did not offer specific examples.
“And believe it or not I regret it,” he added.
“Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues,” he said. “But one thing I will tell you this, I will always tell the truth.”
Later in the speech, he blamed the media for taking his words “out of context.”
