Chris Wallace: As Of Now, More Evidence of Russian ‘Democratic Collusion’ Than GOP Collusion
On Friday, Fox News anchor Chris Wallace weighed in on the recent revelations on what many of his colleagues have called the “real Russia collusion” that took place among Democrats.
Sandra Smith kicked off the conversation by suggesting that this was a “good week” for the White House, specifically noting that the House passed a budget which paves the way for tax reform. Wallace agreed that it “ended better” than it started after President Trump was attacked by outgoing Senators Bob Corker and Jeff Flake and that the budget victory and the Russia scandals surrounding Hillary Clinton that have “blunted” efforts to talk about Trump/Russia collusion made things better for the president.
“I will say these are short-term victories for the president, but their long-term impact is still to be determined,” Wallace elaborated. “On the one hand, the fact that Hillary Clinton or at least her campaign and the DNC was doing business with a foreign national, a British spy to get information from the Russians for this dossier certainly blunts the idea ‘Well, it was the Trump campaign and it was outrageous the Trump campaign was having anything to do with the Russians to maybe effect at the election’ because this is far more evidence we’ve ever seen involving President Trump and his campaign that the Democrats were directly involved in trying to get information from the Russians to affect the 2016 campaign.”
Wallace clarified that “we still don’t know” what Special Counsel Robert Mueller has discovered with his investigation and that possible collusion attempts on “both sides” could be true while Russians “were playing both sides” to disrupt the election.
“We’ll still have to wait and see, but there’s more evidence at this point of Democratic collusion with the Russians than there is Republican collusion with the Russians,” Wallace added.
