Chuck Schumer to Trump: ‘If You Want to Open the Government, You Must Abandon the Wall’

After Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke on the Senate floor blasting Democrats over the shutdown, Chuck Schumer spoke and repeatedly blasted the “Trump shutdown.”

Trump on “destructive two-week temper tantrum demanding the American taxpayer pony up for an expensive and ineffective border wall that the President promised Mexico would pay for”

this isn’t about border security, it’s about Trump wanting tons of money for an “expensive, ineffective wall that the majority of Americans don’t support”

He brought up Trump publicly saying last week that he would be happy to shut down the government over this, and he even quoted Rush Limbaugh to again emphasize this is a “Trump shutdown.”

Schumer continued:

“Everyone knew yesterday, long before the House vote, that the president’s wall lacked 60 votes in the Senate. It is proven to lack even 50 votes. It will never pass the Senate, not today, not next week, not next year. So Mr. President, President Trump, if you want to open the government, you must abandon the wall, plain and simple.”
