CNN’s Chris Cuomo Breaks Down How Trump’s Four Signature Promises Are Crumbling This Week
Chris Cuomo laid out on CNN the “four signature Trump promises” made by the president that “seem to be crumbling” just before the New Year.
Trump’s top failure, per Cuomo: the border wall, which will not be funded in the next budget, if the president goes along with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell‘s continuing resolution to avoid a shutdown.
“The president seems to be abandoning his pledge to shutdown the government if he doesn’t get funding for the wall,” Cuomo explained, adding Democrats take control of the House in the new Congress — effectively killing the big beautiful wall dream.
Trump’s next failed promise: defeating ISIS. Trump’s abrupt announcement that the U.S. would be withdrawing troops from Syria was made with his assurance that the terror group had been defeated in the country. But according to U.S. government estimates, some 30,000 ISIS members remain in Iraq and Syria.
Then there’s the stock market. As Cuomo notes, the DOW is “on track for the worst December since the Great Depression.”
“His talk on trade and tariffs rattled markets,” Cuomo said. “So it wasn’t just indexes and realities. It was his mouth. It introduces uncertainty, and uncertainty is toxic to traders.”
The final failed promise: Trump’s repeated claim that he has “nothing to do with Russia.”
Cuomo pointed to the letter of intent that CNN obtained, signed by Trump, to pursue negotiations over a Trump Tower in Moscow during the election campaign.
