Fox & Friends: Trump’s Reported DACA Deal Makes ‘Republicans in Congress Look Really Bad’
President Donald Trump hosted Democratic stalwarts Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer for Chinese food and political dealing last night at the White House, which the AP reported led to a deal on DACA that did not include funding for Trump’s much touted border wall. This has led to a rather an unsurprising uproar from rather surprising group people: supporters who changed “Build that Wall!” and voted for a candidate who campaigned on ending DACA.
Trump has engaged in some massive damage control via Twitter since the AP Report, which leads us to the Fox & Friends segment above. How would this traditionally pro-Trump and pro-Republican opinion morning show come down on the growing fissure between the establishment GOP and a White House elected to make deals? Well we know how this has worked out in the past, and today was no different — Trump was lauded for ostensibly making deals while co-host Ainsley Earhardt said plainly that this DACA deal “makes Republicans in Congress look really bad.”
If the “GOP establishment” on Capitol Hill — a great many of whom are facing mid-term elections roughly a year from now — have lost Fox & Friends, the most-watched morning show especially for their base, then things do not look good for them. There is plenty of time to turn around, but “Trump vs Republicans on Capitol Hill” is a real thing that doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.
