Thursday morning, a segment on CNN’s America’s Newsroom turned to a topic often discussed this election season: the true conservatism of the GOP candidates. Contributors Robert Zimmerman and Will Cain responded to Sarah Palin‘s comment that she still doubts Mitt Romney‘s conservatism. Zimmerman used the opportunity to compare Palin to a pop culture fixture we all know: The Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi:

Having to defend your credentials to Sarah Palin, well that’s sort of like having to defend your sense of character and style to Snooki or Nicki Minaj. Or defending your sense of history to Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann. Certainly the idea that Sarah Palin’s setting the standard, after she quit her governorship mid-term, is hardly the issue.

Cain was on the same page, commenting earlier that he’s “not going to award Sarah Palin the high practice of defining conservatism.” Dismissing Palin’s credibility, Zimmerman proceeded to highlight what he thinks is the real issue:

The reason we have this debate about Mitt Romney, the reason conservatives are so uncomfortable to him, and so resistant of him, is because he’s changed his positions on so many key issues. Be it the social conservatism issue, whether he’s now supporting anti-contraceptives programs, like the personhood bill, or whether he’s changed his position on many economic questions.

“So the real issue,” Zimmerman concluded, “is Mitt Romney’s own credibility.”

Wow, in the 90s, it was the Spice Girls she was compared to. For a while it was Britney Spears, and now they’re using Snooki. These guys just have to keep on talking, it never gets old.

Also, Snooki probably doesn’t smell quite so funky, even after she pees herself. Hey, there’s gotta be a reason for studio talking heads to prefer to talk with the Diva at distance – & it’s not like she’s urgently needed in Alaska, or that she does any actual, you know, parenting that isn’t entirely portable.

Sarah is praying (or whatever it is she does with God) for the GOP to stay scattered, and for the candidates to keep making mistakes. She really does think that she can sashay into the convention and they will throw rose petals at her and beg her to run. My take is that by then, the GOP leaders will know for sure that the GOP is dead in the water this fall, and so will be happy for a sure loser to put out there and throw right under the bus. Their big problem will be who will go down with her this time. Keep wishing Sarah. And keep hiding out at Fox. Heaven forbid you talk to a real newsperson or get into the race and have a real debate with your colleagues. I thought you wanted to make sure all the candidates were thoroughly vetted? Oh, all except you. By the way, who was watching the pre-schoolers when you, Bris and Willow were in DC and NYC and Todd was off getting ready for his race? Did SARAHPAC pay for the trips and the babysitters? Is that legal?

This Zimmerman guy is one nasty character – I think CNN is the only network that has him on the air. He is truly scum and very anti-woman, a real sexist. CNN should issue an apology and kick him off their network; he does them no good.
