MSNBC Can Only Help Joe Scarborough’s Book To 7th Place Debut

» comments

scarborough_6-22What do 70 mentions of your book on MSNBC since June 1 (according to TVEyes.com) get you? If you’re Joe Scarborough, it gets you a 7th place debut on this week’s New York Times Bestsellers List.

That’s not bad – but for all the free publicity it got on Scarborough’s own network, a higher debut was surely expected.

For weeks, the only thing promoted more than “The Last Best Hope” was Starbucks coffee. “Morning Joe” featured regular segments with liberals debating Scarborough on the future of the GOP, with the book’s title serving as the lower third. Each book signing (tonight, in Pensacola!) was teased on-air.

It seems MSNBC’s growing liberal audience did not embrace the conservative values book, while the conservatives looked elsewhere. “Liberty & Tyranny,” Mark Levin‘s “manifesto” on conservatism topped this week’s list (again). Bill O’Reilly‘s “A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity” finished 6th (in it’s 35th week on the list).

On Amazon, Scarborough’s book sits in 519th place.

Will he see a bump next week after a trip through his native Florida? It may be his last best hope.
