The first time I ever saw Whoppi, she was doing a one-woman stand-up routine where one of her bits was the same valley girl she was doing on the clip. That was 30 years ago. After the success of Willie Horton in 1988, I expect nothing less. Manipulating people’s bigotry works.
As demographic changes continue it will be interesting (if not sickening) on how it plays out in the future.
We are not as evolved as I thought. I saw some major bigotry yesterday against Puerto Ricans by tea party types on many news oriented sites. It was triggered off by Obama’s trip to Puerto Rico (did this site cover the trip?, I don’t think so).

BTW people, PUERTO RICO IS PART OF THE US!

Can you provide a citation or a link? I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but this is certainly the first I’ve heard of it. That being said, there is a bit of a difference between a comedian and a news-caster, and Whoopi has a tendency to forgive bad taste on the part of comedians (as in the Tracy Morgan fiasco).
